"Pastured " simply means  free range of a pasture. Since our farm is our home, it is difficult and not profitable to let the poultry have free run of our entire yard and garden space.

Instead we rotate our flocks in large, fresh  pasture areas or mobile pens called "Tractors". Our birds have access to fresh grass, bugs, air, and sunshine everyday. This is actually more beneficial than most "Free range" systems, in which birds are just packed into a warehouse. With the lack of individual cages, they can be labeled "Free range", but still do not have the nutritional qualities of  pastured  poultry.  In addition to pasture, our turkeys receive a supplemental  dose of grit, brewers yeast, fresh garlic, hard boiled pastured eggs(for protein), and a custom grind feed which contains no hormones, antibiotics, medications, or steroids.

The White Broadbreasted turkey is an equivalent to the broiler chicken. It has been bred specifically for it's large, tender breast meat, and it's extremely fast grow out period (about 12 weeks). This is the same breed of turkey you will find in the grocery store, because it is the only breed that produces these qualities.

However, our turkeys are more flavorful, lean, tender, juicy, and posses all the nutritional benifits that come with excersise, sunshine, grass, and stress-free enviroment.      Heritage turkey breeds include, Bourbon Red, Narraganset, Black Spanish, and Royal Palm. Heritage turkeys are known for their lean, flavorful meat, and their traditional appearance. Their breast meat is smaller than the broadbreasted, so there are about equal amounts of white and dark meat. Heritage breeds can naturally reproduce, and play a key role in sustainable agriculture. We hope to save some pairs out of our heritage turkeys and begin our own breeding program soon.      *Processed birds come cleaned with neck attatched, but without organs, unless specifically requested.*
